After a cold night and the potential for frost, I headed to Rough Tor on Bodmin Moor. I was also motivated to complete the hour-long drive with the hope for mist as the frost thawed - but that didn't happen...
Arriving at the car park a little later than I would have liked - I had just half-an-hour until the sunrise. I quickly pulled on my extra layers and wellies before marching up the tor.
With the sun rising on the other side of the peak, and the sky turning pink, I had no time for a breather - reaching the summit with 10 minutes 'til sunrise (I'm aware that Rough Tor is only 1,313 feet despite my possibly exaggerated mountaineering terminology!)
Having picked my composition - as the sun rose, I struggled to control the scene's tonal range. So, a combination of hard & soft grad ND filters together with a bracketed exposure allowed me to capture this detailed image.
